For the last 150 years travelers and walkers have passed by the farm house and for the same number of years families have farmed their living here. Hillside Farm is a working farm and we are the fourth generation of farmers. But now as well as farming we welcome travelers and visitors to stay at our farmhouse during their time in Cumbria. We are pleased to say that time has not stood still so we offer some of the creature comforts like warmth, hot water and a bed for the night, not always available 150 years ago!
We are located in a small village of Boustead Hill, Hadrian's Wall National Trail and Hadrian's Cycle Way (72 pass the farm). Built in 1856, the farm house is a Grade II listed building just steps away from Hadrian's wall.
Converted from our Georgian Farm Stable to a purpose designed bunk barn. Bunk beds, toilet and shower are now upstairs. Downstairs there is a kitchen and seating area with a 2 ring gas stove, small 2 ring electria cooker and microwave, cutlery and crockery, toilet and shower.
There is only heating downstairs on a meter. Sleeping bags and towels can be hired.
To make life easier we can even arrange some food shopping for you or you can indulge in a farm house breakfast with our own eggs and local produce. Just let me have advanced warning.
Walking, cycling and family groups are most welcome.
There is plenty of parking in the farm yard cars can be left here while you walk the wall.
There is a shed to put your bike away for the night with tools in case you need to mend a puncture.
The barn will sleep 12-13 people.
Bunk Beds £10.00 Per Person Per Night.
Fried Farm House breakfast from £3.50.
Bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches are also available.
Sleeping bags and Towels if required may be hired at the cost of £1.00 each.
Heating £1 per hour.
A deposit is required for group bookings payable by cash or cheque.
