Situated centrally in the Hadrian's Wall corridor this is an ideal location from which to visit all the major Roman sites and Kielder, the Lake District and many places of historical interest. Housesteads and Vindolanda (2 miles away) Roman sites are both a pleasant circular all day walk from Strand Cottage, taking in the most spectacular and highest parts of the Wall. We have secure lock up facilities for cycles and a drying room. There is an itinerary on our own website for walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall from our B&B using your car and the Hadrian’s Wall bus. There is a link above for our website. If staying for 5 or more days we have one free use of our laundry facilities.
Packed lunches can be provided on request with 24 hrs notice.
Carlisle with its Castle, Cathedral and Tullie House Museum are only a half hour away, and Newcastle with its many museums, art galleries and shopping is half an hour in the other direction. Newcastle airport is a short drive and the 685 bus from either Newcastle or Carlisle will stop outside our door on request. There is a train station in Bardon Mill.
