We are well placed for exploring the north of England and south of Scotland and are open throughout the year to provide a great base for your next deserved break. You will find privacy, luxury and style in a truly magical setting.
Our six cottages lie at the heart of the Naworth Castle Estate, which is privately owned by the Howard family. Each property is named after a powerful family connected with Lanercost. They are designed and furnished to the highest standards whilst still retaining their own individual charm with original timber beams and huge arch windows. Features include oak floors, Persian carpets, luxury bathrooms, comfy leather sofas, Egyptian cotton bed linen and free WiFi.
Lanercost welcomes group bookings. In particular, De Brotherton and Greystoke offer excellent group dining facilities. For an even easier self-catering option, why not try our new ‘Food by Christina’ menu offering guests the opportunity to pre-order delicious home-cooked evening meals, fresh breads and even complete breakfast packs, direct to your cottage door. We can accommodate up to 31 guests in total.
The area offers a vast range of activities for all ages and tastes. Whether you want to explore history, discover the great outdoors or just take time out relaxing with a cappuccino in the highly acclaimed Lanercost Tea Room & Restaurant. Recent development includes a new Hadrian’s Wall Gateway & Information Centre just steps away from the cottages, allowing guests to discover much more about this beautiful and historic location.
Lanercost is situated 13 miles northeast of Carlisle, near Brampton, Cumbria - within 11 miles reach of the M6, junction 43 or 44. Open all year round for short breaks (minimum 3 consecutive nights) as well as week-long stays. Sorry, we do not accept pets.
Discover an ancient and enchanting place – the perfect rural escape.
