Lanercost Tea Room and Hadrian's Wall Gateway Visitor Information Centre

Lanercost Tea Room is in an ideal position for friends, families and groups to stop off for a reviving snack or take lunch while exploring the surrounding area.

Located next to the 12th century Lanercost Priory and less than half a mile from Hadrian’s Wall, 12 miles east of Carlisle and 15 minutes from the M6 it is also in a great location for travelling to or from Scotland, the Lake District, Carlisle and Newcastle.

At the Tea Room everything is homemade and freshly prepared to order using quality local produce. The menu offers delicious snacks such as tea and scones, and a range of lunch options including salads, wraps, paninis, traditional fish and chips, homemade burgers and more. We also have a diverse children’s menu.

While choosing your dishes peruse our Gift Shop, which showcases a range of stylish gifts & home accessories, candles, scarves, jewellery and greetings cards, delicious Cumbrian jams, preserves, and local beers.

Our Visitor Information Centre offers free maps and guides on local attractions, Roman sites and Hadrian’s Wall as well as further afield, including: The Lake District, North Pennines, South West Scotland, Solway, Carlisle & West Cumbria, and the Eden Valley.
