CycleDescription
ROUTE OVERVIEW Start/Finish: Silloth NY 106 536 Distance: 11km (7 miles) - short distance with easy hills. Maps: OS Landranger 85 (Carlisle & Solway Firth) This route travels north along the Solway Coast to Skinburness, with wonderful views across the Solway Firth to the lowland Scottish Hills in Southern Galloway. On a clear day it's easy to see why the Roman's had defensive milefortlets and turrets evenly spaced along this coast allowing soldiers to keep a close eye on activities out to sea. Once on the home straight there are lot of places to get on to the sea shore, before heading back into the Victorian seaside town of Silloth.
